Itinerary
As the adventure begins, complete a briefing with your guides at Kilembe (1,450m), before beginning the trek to Sine Camp at 2,596 metres. You will hike through the forests of the Afro-montane forest zone. This is a steady climb for about 6km before passing through a steep section towards Sine Camp.
The hike is a great opportunity to see some of the flora and fauna of the Rwenzoris, including Colobus Monkeys. Today you will cover a total distance of approximately 9.5km over 5-6 hours.
Just 200 metres from the camp is the beautiful Enock falls which you can visit before dinner.
Hike up through the Bamboo zone to Kalalaama camp at 3,134 metres. After a short rest, continue on through a thick forest covered with hanging mosses before reaching a lobelia garden. Descend through a mossy ridge to Samalira camp at 3,174 metres. Today's hike covers approximately 4km in 5-6 hours and passes through some steep terrain.
En route to Samalira, you will pass a series of waterfalls, the most impressive of which is the Samalira Falls.
Hike up to Kamalha Falls before continuing higher and looping right below Cathy's falls. You have the option of climbing up to see Cathy's falls. Hike down to Nyamwamba Falls and Plozza Falls where we'll stop for a picnic lunch.
After lunch, continue down to Engwe Falls and on to Forest View Camp at 2,580 metres. The views from this camp are stunning.
After a good breakfast, descend back down the mountains, passing the moss covered rocks, through the forests and rivers back to base camp at Kilembe. Debrief and continue your onwards journey.
