Each year, we help hundreds of travellers explore East Africa. Every trip we run is tailor-made to match your dreams, budget, and appetite for adventure.

Itinerary

The itinerary below is designed to give you an overview of the route. Get in touch with our team for a full travel itinerary, or to create a tailor-made trip.

After landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by a driver to transfer you to Wilson airport before boarding the flight to the Maasai Mara. The flight time is approximately one hour, and takes you into the heart of the reserve. A guide from Rekero will meet you and game drive you back to camp, offering the perfect introduction to the vast savannah plains and stopping to watch any wildlife you encounter on the way.

Settle into your tent and enjoy lunch and time to relax overlooking the Talek River, one of the two major river systems in the reserve, which runs right in front of the camp. After afternoon tea and cake, head out on a game drive to search for big cats and other wildlife.

Accommodation: Rekero Camp

An iconic tented camp with a rich history, Rekero takes a prime position on the banks of the Talek River, where wildlife is often viewed right from the comfort of camp. Nine spacious guest tents balance the adventure of sleeping under canvas with plenty of modern comforts. The main lounge tent and vast deck offer the perfect vantage point from which to spot wildlife drinking at the river, as well as overlooking one of the main river crossing points when The Great Migration herds are in the reserve. The guides here are superb and know the best spots to seek out the many species found in the Maasai Mara, as well as the history and stories of some of the big cats that frequent this corner of the reserve.

Game drives from Rekero take place in the early to mid-morning and in the mid- to late afternoon, when wildlife is most active, offering the best sightings. The grassy plains are home to a wide range of species, from a pride of lion to cheetah stalking their prey and hippos wallowing in muddy pools. There is never a dull moment in the Masai Mara!

During the heat of the day you will return to camp for a rest, lunch and, of course, the tradition of freshly baked cake and tea or coffee before your afternoon drive. Dinners are typically communal, sharing stories of your day’s adventures with other guests. Hot-air ballooning is also possible from here, at an additional cost (pre-booking recommended), offering a unique perspective on the landscapes and wildlife at sunrise.

After breakfast, say goodbye to the Rekero team and drive north, over the National Reserve boundary, and into the exclusive Naboisho Conservancy. On arrival at the camp, you will be met by our managers before sitting down for lunch under the shade of the trees before relaxing by the pool for the afternoon. After tea, you will choose your first game activity within the Naboisho Conservancy, which is home to a spectacular array of wildlife including good populations of lion, leopard and cheetah, herds of elephants and buffalo, and much more.

Accommodation: Naboisho

A stylish safari camp with nine spacious tents raised to maximize views. The lounge and dining rooms are complemented by a separate pool area complete with its own open fire, snug and dining room. The camp is located in a prime position in the wildlife-rich Mara Naboisho Conservancy, with strong links to the local communities. Expect high standards of guiding as well as incredible walking safaris, delicious food and superb hosting.

Enjoy morning and afternoon shared activities from camp, exploring the Mara Naboisho Conservancy. Game and night drives, walking safaris and cultural visits to the local Maasai community are included, and it’s also possible and really rewarding to visit one of the camp’s partner charities, the Maa Trust which works to empower local communities through various projects, and the Kenya Wildlife Trust which studies and conserves predators in the Greater Mara region.

After breakfast, pack your bags and meet your guide for your transfer to Ol Seki airstrip. Here you will connect with your flight to Wilson Airport, Nairobi. You will land and be met by a driver to take you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, so you can check-in for your international flight home.

My experience with Roger as a tourist guide in Uganda Awsome experience! We traveled around Uganda and saw animals, climbed Mt.Elgon and visited a tribe. Our guide was very genuine and funny. The only thing I would have liked more is a breifing of the day. Other than that I totally recommend Roger as a Tourist Guide!!

Murchison falls - a 3 day customized safari tour The Game Ranger Tours team took us to a three day safari to the Murchison falls - the national park in the north-western Uganda. The owner of the travel agency - Roger - prepared a customized programme for us. We left Kampala at about 1 pm and drove for about six hours to the park to catch the last ferry to the other side of Nile at 7pm. After crossing the river, we were accommodated in a beautiful lodge called Paraa Safari. Next morning we started early to safari game drive across the savannah grassland. Our tour guide and driver - Juuko knew every road in the park. He took us to places where we saw giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, antelopes, kobs, elephants and many more wild animals and birds. The drive was a fantastic experience we'll never forget. In the afternoon we got back to the lodge to have lunch and then at about 3 pm took a boat to the falls - so beautiful nature sight! On the third day, before heading back to Kampala Roger and Juuko took us to the top of the falls where we could actually see how powerfull and strong the waterfall is! On our way to Kampala we visited the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary too and were lucky to see a baby rhino and its parents. After the three full days of adventure, we safely returned to the capital. Thank you so much, Roger and Juuko, for taking care of us and for showing us how beautiful Uganda is. Hope to see you again!

My woderful stay in Entebbe and Uganda During my stay in Entebbe, I eas able to fufil my childhood dreams, namely to touch the waters of Victoria Lake and, then, to travel to the soirces of the Nile. My best tour guide was, of course, Ras. His name has got a powerful meaning in Ethiopian, i.e. Prince. He is a genuine prince by heart, character and manner. To me, Entebbe is the city of God. Uganda and Tanzania are the countries to which I would always come back. If Africa has its heart, then the heart's two chambers are Tanzania and Uganda. To all white people like me, I wpuld like to say that the cradle of the mankind is to be found in Africa. My skin is white, but my heart is black. And I ma proud of it.
