Tour Plan: Day-wise Itinerary

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where our representative will meet and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi town. Once checked in, you’ll have time to relax after your journey. In the evening, meet your professional mountain guide for a detailed briefing about the trek, safety instructions, and equipment check. Dinner will be served at the hotel, giving you a chance to rest and prepare for the adventure ahead. Overnight stay in Moshi.

After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate (1,800m) where registration formalities are completed. Your trek begins through lush rainforest trails, alive with birds, monkeys, and rich vegetation. The path is gentle but steadily uphill, giving you your first taste of Kilimanjaro’s terrain. By evening, you’ll reach Machame Camp (3,000m), set in a forest clearing. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Today’s trek leaves the forest behind and takes you into the heath and moorland zone, where the vegetation becomes sparse and views open up. The trail is steep but offers spectacular panoramas of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Peak in the distance. Arrive at Shira Camp (3,840m) and enjoy the stunning sunset. Dinner and overnight at camp.

This is an important acclimatization day. You’ll ascend steadily to Lava Tower (4,600m), a remarkable volcanic formation. Here, lunch is served, allowing your body to adjust to higher altitudes. Later, descend to Barranco Camp (3,960m), where oxygen levels are higher. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy improves your chances of summit success. Dinner and overnight at camp beneath the magnificent Barranco Wall.

After breakfast, tackle the Barranco Wall, a thrilling scramble that rewards you with breathtaking views. The trail then weaves through valleys and ridges with views of Heim Glacier. You’ll arrive at Karanga Camp (4,035m) by mid-afternoon, where you can rest and acclimatize further. Dinner and overnight at camp.

The trail today leads you to Barafu Camp (4,640m), your base camp for the summit attempt. The landscape is harsh and rocky, with sparse vegetation. Arrive in the afternoon, enjoy an early dinner, and head to bed early for a few hours of rest. You’ll need maximum energy for tomorrow’s midnight summit push. Overnight in tents at Barafu.

This is the most challenging yet rewarding day. Wake up around midnight and begin the steep climb under a starlit sky. Reach Stella Point (5,739m) at dawn, then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement with breathtaking sunrise views. After photos and short celebrations, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for overnight. Dinner and overnight in camp.

Enjoy your final breakfast on the mountain before trekking down through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640m). Receive your summit certificate and meet your driver for the transfer back to Moshi. The evening is free to relax, refresh, and enjoy a special celebration dinner. Overnight stay in Moshi.

After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey. If you wish, extra nights in Moshi or extensions to a Tanzania safari or Zanzibar beach holiday can be arranged.
