Tour Plan: Day-wise Itinerary
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you to Uganda – the Pearl of Africa. You will be transferred to your hotel in either Kampala or Entebbe, where you will check in and relax after your journey. In the evening, you will receive a detailed briefing about the upcoming trek, safety guidelines, and what to expect during your adventure. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive to Kasese, a town near the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, often called the “Mountains of the Moon.” On arrival, you will meet your trekking team, including experienced guides and porters. After a quick check of your trekking gear and supplies, you’ll begin your exciting trek into the Rwenzori ranges. The trail takes you through lush vegetation zones rich in birdlife and wildlife. In the evening, set up camp in the wilderness, enjoy a hot meal, and rest under the stars.
Today’s trek takes you deeper into the mountains, through a variety of ecosystems. You’ll pass through montane forests alive with primates and colorful birds, followed by dense bamboo zones that open up into stunning alpine meadows. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of cascading waterfalls and unique mountain vegetation. Your overnight camping spot will be set on higher ground, offering spectacular views of the valleys below.
This is one of the most adventurous days of the trek as you push higher into the Rwenzori’s rugged landscapes. The trail becomes steeper, leading you across rocky ridges and boggy sections unique to these mountains. You will encounter rare plant species such as giant lobelias and groundsels that thrive only in high-altitude regions. If the weather is clear, you may even catch glimpses of the snow-capped peaks in the distance. Dinner and overnight will be spent camping in the high-altitude zone, surrounded by the tranquility of nature.
After several days of trekking uphill, today marks the beginning of your descent. You’ll follow the trails back down through the diverse vegetation zones, giving you a chance to appreciate the landscapes from a different perspective. The descent offers plenty of photo opportunities and time to reflect on the adventure you’ve experienced. On reaching Kasese, you’ll check into a comfortable lodge where you can freshen up, relax, and enjoy a hearty dinner after the trek.
After breakfast, you will check out and begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy a few scenic stops along the way. On arrival, you will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your international departure, marking the end of your Rwenzori Trekking Expedition.
